About
Mission Statement
The purpose of Chi Rho Omicron shall be to promote the understanding, enrichment and appreciation of the Pilipino culture, history and heritage through a brotherhood/family environment; to instill the desire for self-improvement, scholastic excellence and the cultivation for civic responsibility.
History
Our seven founding fathers felt a need in strengthening Pilipino unity by extinguishing the lines between regions, class levels, and language barriers through brotherhood. On February 20, 1995, this ideal brotherhood unifying Pilipino and non- Pilipino became a reality on the campus of the California State University at Fresno. The organization spans the state of California with eight chapters:
Alpha Chapter – California State University, Fresno
Beta Chapter – California State University, San Francisco
Gamma Chapter – California State University, Hayward
Delta Chapter – University of San Francisco
Epsilon Chapter – California State University, Sacramento
Zeta Chapter – University of California, Davis
Eta Chapter – California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
Theta Chapter – California State University, San Diego
Chi Rho Omicron was established at California Polytechnic University Pomona on June 2, 2000. The Cal Poly Pomona chapter is the first Southern California chapter in Chi Rho Omicron’s history. The Pomona chapter, as well as our other chapters across the state of California, reach out to the community as a way of spreading Pilipino awareness and showing support for the Pilipino community. By holding out our hands to the public, we aim to become a unique resource as well as an organization that practices its beliefs.
